“People are like stained glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.” – Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
“Art is expression, art is emotional, art is therapy and art is the element that brings communities together. I know this because I’ve experienced it personally and professionally. As an artist, licensed architect, and engineer, I have found stained glass to be the perfect art medium to require and blend the skills of each of these professions.
“My stained glass art is expressed with an emphasis on the creative design challenges of an extremely difficult medium and the technical challenges of the complexity of each finished piece. My primary focus is designing and fabricating flat panels, windows, and three dimensional works using the copper foil method. Each new composition progressively challenges the limits of how individual glass pieces can be intricately cut, foiled, and soldered and come together as a well-balanced composition. My goal is to have my work elevated and accepted as “fine art” as opposed to being viewed as a ‘craft.’
“Also, I strive to further develop and optimize the manner by which my work can be displayed. Not by simply relying on ambient light alone, as most do with stained glass works, but in constructing customized light boxes that function as frames using full-spectrum LED back lighting. This brings out the full richness of the colors, textures, and patterns of the glass itself. It lends itself beautifully to displaying my work on interior gallery walls rather than hanging them in windows.
“Finally, I like to educate others in the art of stained glass by demonstrating the processes and special techniques I have developed and continue to use in my own studio; from start to finish, by using both artistic and engineering skills to produce works of stained glass art that can beautify any window or wall and will last the test of time.”
I specialize in custom pieces and commissions and work exclusively using the leaded copper foil method of construction. Also, any piece shown below can be reproduced to fit a client’s needs, depending on the desired location. The size can be adjusted to fit any window and there is virtually no limit to the color or texture of the glass to be used. Any decor or decorating scheme can be accommodated into a design.
